黎三元.Loy Sum Juan

It's Meow's birthday and we decided to go have some authentic Cantonese food. @ 黎三元. He mentioned it has 30-osd yr of history, and food has been good on his opinion. 

We ordered a set dinner for 6 pax and here it is.

First to arrive - super super tender and appetitizing thai duck salad! The slightly spicy Thai salad is nicely balanced with sweetness.. And it's chilled. Woot! 

Pork rib - no bones, juz chunks of meat. Very tender and hot from kitchen. Perfect with rice for the kids :) 

We replaced the fish maw soup with sharks fin. It's fresh and nicely starched.  Didn't come across nice ones since long time ago. 

Signature shrimp paste chicken - always skeptical abt this item. But these meats are tender, with good marinate and fried to perfect crisp. I knw wat meow mean when he say '没得顶'. But he also said it used to be much better with heavier shrimp paste. 

Bean curd and mushroom. No qualms abt it. Simple, nice and hot. 

The fish din left much impression thou. But u can be assured of the standard too . 

Wah.. This one. Butter pumkin prawn ball. Mort's salty-egg-anything. I took 3 pieces 😁. Fried prawns are fresh and nicely crisp and coated with the gravy. Finger-licking good :) 

Oh. Improvised birthday cake. Creative hor? 

We took the first set. Really enjoyed the dinner. Will return again. Almost guranteed anything is good fr the menu.

Good lunch !! 

Long q @ lunch. But cleared v fast. They hv mix-rice also.

Nice BBQ char siew.. Got the char I always loved, wld be even better if it comes w a little bit more fatty parts. 

Ordered extra BBQ chicken to share. Quite tender as well. 

I think the best of the lunch is the gravy. Taste like authentic marinate tht dripped and collected in the process of BBQ. Good!

Cedele - Apple Caramello

If u like carrot cake, u'll love this apple caramello cake fr Cedele. No, u dun understand. Let me paste this for u:

Apple Caramello
Super moist, tender and soft cake filled with generous amount of fresh apples, lightly spiced, frosted with salted caramel cream cheese, topped with delicious oat walnut granola. And of course, only organic refined sugar and grapeseed oil used. Absolutely delicious!

It is. Try it!

WHEAT Baumkuchen

IvyP told us abt this little shop behind the main space at Toa Payoh HDB hub. "The cold noodle is reali nice!"

Nice? Like how? I can't put together any image.

When we reach, we went straight to order IvyP's recommendation, grab a seat and waited. It's reali not tht crowded place at lunch hour.

Our drinks arrive shortly. I observed the small outlet, stock of seasonings were clearly visible, food posters on the wall, a counter bar with cashier, and some staff behind counter preparing our food. Oh. So our noodle was tossed with salad and dressing together? Thts brilliant! It saves a great deal of time from hving to wait for the noodle to be cooked.

Our food served. I got more excited. I can smell the sesame fragrant. And when I tasted the first bite, I was in love. I have all the texture in one bite. The slightly chewy noodle, with some shredded chicken bits, and the crunch fr the salad, and everything juz infused with the sesame dressing. Well, wat can go wrong w sesame dressing anyway?

Yes, it's cold. But it's a over size salad! Munch in! Plus it's so affordable. I'll be back for more:)

Oh, and their cake. It comes with different toppings, but it's our misses co they don't serve it tht day. So we took the plain one. The staff warm the cake for us. It tasted like kueh lapis, less fatty, and coz its reheated, it's quite soft and easy to eat. Not sure if it'll be too dry if consume direct from packaging.

I reali like their Raspberry creme brûlée. Light and refreshing w raspberry, sweet and creamy satisfying my sweet tooth ;)

We also had Crepe Suzette. Was too sour at first few bites, but I got addicted with zest fr the orange butter aauce, and sweet fr the vanilla ice cream. Worth trying!

Got to knw about this outlet from 8Days. Tom Yum Gong Spaghetti sounds alluring, so decided to give it a try.

Me and Ker ordered some food to share: Angels wings (oh dear), Spring rolls, Tom Yum Gong Spaghetti and green curry with rice. We also ordered ice lemongrass drink (which i enjoy v much) and thai-style ice tea (Ker said it's smooth and tasted like bubble tea). Din take any pix of the drinks though.

Tom Yum Gong Spaghetti : Not a big portion, enuf for smaller eater. ingredients consider fresh, and the tom yum gong did fused into the spaghetti. Not too bad.

Spring Roll (din get the name one the menu): came to us hot and crispy. can try!

Green Curry: a tat too salty but chicken is tender

Angel wings: this is a good idea - they split the wings into half, fry to perfect crispa and eazy to handle. no messy like u usually do with the whole chicken wing

I kept peeping to my neighbour's table - they have a table full of food too. i shd be back to try other items.
